Dr. Frank Kurowski
Merging his love of science, medicine, and working with his hands, Dr. Kurowski received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) in 1996 in California from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, a school of dentistry renowned for its research and clinical excellence. He keeps current with new and emerging procedures through continuing education courses.
Dr. Kurowski studied and is an Alumnus from The Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, FL, completing all of their Continuing Education Continuums. The Pankey Institute’s philosophy focuses on Comprehensive Dentistry, and when appropriate, full mouth rejuvenation.
Dr. Kurowski also studies with the OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry, a school of dentistry that focuses on common concerns such as worn or chipped teeth, recurrent headaches, neck, shoulder pain, pain in the jaw joint, and grinding or clenching of a patient’s teeth. One or more of these conditions may be indicators for chewing system disharmony. Dr. Kurowski identifies the root causes of the pain, wear, and aging of the patient's teeth before prescribing a plan of therapy and smile rejuvenation.
He keeps current with dental standards of care, new and emerging procedures, and technologies through continuing education courses and study clubs. In addition to averaging 50 plus hours of official continuing education course work each year, he also participate in numerous study clubs presenting comprehensive dental cases and assisting in clinical teaching with colleagues of general dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery.
While Dr. Kurowski enjoys all aspects of dentistry, he particularly enjoys rehabilitating patients with worn teeth, TMJ disorders, and periodontal disease. He also enjoys diagnosis, hand waxing, and fabricating dentures for his patients, especially for those patients that have never had a custom set of dentures, so they can speak, eat, and smile again with confidence.
Dr. Kurowski is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry.
A native of Jefferson County, Dr. Kurowski graduated from Ballard High School, then completed his undergraduate work at Drake University, in Des Moines, Iowa. After completion of the United States Navy’s Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, he accepted a commission as a U.S. Navy Ensign. He served four years as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard a guided missile frigate, the USS Taylor, FFG 50, deploying with NATO in the Atlantic, and to the Persian Gulf.
In case you are wondering…a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) are similar degrees, and have the same education and curriculum requirements to graduate as a General Dentist. It’s up to the states to determine which degree is awarded.
